Bob Shanks

Bob was born in Queens, New York and grew up on Long Island.  He attended college at the University of Texas at Austin.  Bob received a Masters Degree in Environmental Engineering with an emphasis on Water Quality in 1975.  Bob’s water quality career began with the State Water Resources Control Board, where he worked for four years, and ended with the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District (SRCSD), where he worked for 27 years. 

While District Engineer for SRCSD, Bob worked with Eva Butler to start and obtain funding for the Sacramento Splash Program.  In addition to becoming a founding Board member for Splash, Bob also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Sacramento River Watershed Program.

Bob has a family connection with educators and education.  His father was a teacher, and his brother, sister and wife, Joellen, are all teachers.  Bob understands the importance of education in shaping and protecting the world we all share.
