Wild Things! – Seldom Seen Wildlife Of Our Region
NOTE: This program is not currently being offered.

Sacramento Splash is definitely where the wild things are! Join us for this rare opportunity to meet some of the bigger – yet hard to find – critters that inhabit the Sacramento region.

The live animals that may join us include a:

  • Mountain Lion
  • Coyote
  • Black Bear
  • Beaver
  • Opossum
  • Raccoon
  • Turkey Vulture
  • Red-tailed Hawk
  • Great Horned Owl
  • Bald Eagle

These animals will be brought to the Splash Education Center by Wild Things, Inc., a non-profit organization that provides homes for displaced wildlife. The critters came to Wild Things as a result of injuries that would keep them from surviving in the wild, or because people tried to keep them as illegal pets. In addition to caring for these animals, Wild Things, Inc. shares them as wildlife ambassadors at public programs, with a message of wildlife conservation and appreciation for the earth’s natural wonders.

During the first half of this program, you’ll get to meet the animals. After that, we’ll walk through the vernal pool grasslands at Mather to find our own wild things! This will be a fun program suitable for adults and children of any age. Come prepared with sturdy shoes and some sunscreen. Visitors should arrive promptly, but may depart at any time.
