More about funding the Preserve

The County has stated its intention to use revenue from development at Mather to fund ongoing management of the Preserve and its endowment. However details of that financing plan and timeline have not been revealed.  Splash scientists and environmental advocates have no confidence that sufficient funds will be available to effectively manage the Preserve.

This first decade of management will require more intensive investment to slow and reverse the rate of habitat decline. The initial funding amount is wholly inadequate to avoid further degradation of the resources. To this end, we ask for full disclosure of when and how management and endowment funds will be generated, and formal commitment of those funds in advance.
