More about a collaborative process for managing the Preserve

The vernal pools we need to preserve are in rapid decline.  Solutions to reducing the impacts of invasive plants, off-road vehicles and vandalism must be implemented immediately. All the knowledge and experience we need to do adaptive management is present but is currently being marginalized by the County’s process.

Successful management of the Mather Field Vernal Pool Preserve will require all the energy, talent, knowledge, and goodwill we can assemble. We ask the Board to commit the County to an inclusive, collaborative, community-based process to identify and achieve the management goals for the preserve.
