Overview: The Faces of Science
Some people are professional scientists, meaning they practice science as part of their job. Many others delve into science to volunteer or just to have fun. Whether they are professional scientists or lay scientists, the local faces of science might surprise you. Very few wear white lab coats, and fewer still have goofy glasses and wild hair!
To a scientist, the natural world is a limitless playground, an endless source of amazement and engagement. Most children are scientists by nature. Their natural curiosity coaxes them to explore and discover; it is how they learn. Whether you’re grown up or still growing, you will notice the scientist within when you hear yourself saying: “I notice…, I wonder…, or that reminds me of…”
