Ms. Nihart's Class at Village Elementary

On Friday, March 4th, Ms. Nihart and her 31 fourth graders joined Nancy, Irene, and Janet for a field trip to the vernal pools at Mather Field as part of the Splash Elementary Program.  The students prepared for their field trip by doing the environmental science curriculum, Life in Our Watershed: Investigating Vernal Pools.  By the time they arrived at the Splash Education Center, the students had grown fairy shrimp in their classroom, completed a scientific experiment, and each became the class expert on a particular vernal pool animal.

With all this preparation, the students had lots of new knowledge to share with their Splash guides.  For their part, the guides took great pleasure in showing the students the many small wonders of the vernal pools.  Thank you Ms. Nihart's fourth graders for another great day at Splash!

Ms. Idrogo's Class at Yav Pem Suab Academy

On Tuesday, February 15th, Ms. Celia Idrogo brought her 21 fifth graders on a Splash field trip.  The day was cold and windy, but the students were real troopers!  We saw all sorts of cool stuff out in the field, including gopher holes, hunting raptors, tiny aquatic critters, and a snake skeleton. We had so much fun!
