On Tuesday, February 15th, Ms. Celia Idrogo brought her 21 fifth graders on a Splash field trip.  The day was cold and windy, but the students were real troopers!  We saw all sorts of cool stuff out in the field, including gopher holes, hunting raptors, tiny aquatic critters, and a snake skeleton. We had so much fun!

Here's what Ms. Idrogo had to say about her school, her students, and the Splash Elementary Program:

At Yav Pem Suab Academy, the students (known as “scholars”) come to school ready to learn and they are getting smarter everyday. They know that scholars are individuals who think, strive to do their best, reach for excellence, and seek achievement. Our school has a strong belief and vision that our scholars can learn anything, do anything, and achieve anything.

Students will learn when they are engaged. The Splash program is a fabulous and valuable educational experience. During the field trip, my students experienced “being there” and were able to connect their past learning, current learning, and future experiences. Thank you for this unforgettable educational experience!

One of Ms. Idrogo's students, Mai Pay, enjoyed seeing the tiny vernal pool critters up close:

It was so much fun!  It was cool seeing all the microscopic organisms under the microscope. Using some of her new science vocabulary, she added, Some critters were macroscopic, so you could see them with your naked eye.
