Nature Detective
Find the Wildlife Signs Left Behind
Saturday,
July 12
6:30pm - 9:00pm
Hone your skills as a
nature detective and learn to identify wildlife by the signs
they leave behind.
As we wander through
natural areas, we often don't see the wildlife that lives
there. Their senses are much more acute than ours so they know
we're coming long before we can see them. Additionally, many
of the animals are nocturnal so we normally don't see them
during our daytime activities.
Discover ways of identifying the
wildlife that lives in an area, even if you don't see the
animals themselves. Splash guide and naturalist David Rosen
will lead a walk in Mather Regional Park to see what clues we
can find and learn more about the behavior of the animals that
left them.
We'll
search for animal signs, such as tracks, scat (scientific term
for "poop"), pellets, trails, diggings, feathers,
hair, and more. Then we'll piece together the clues to tell a
story about how the critters spent their day. It'll be like
CSI Mather!
Wear good walking shoes for the field
portion of this program. Reserve your spot
early, as space is limited!
Fees for
