Join the Splash Club!
If you live in Sacramento County, your child may
be able to step off the pavement and into the wild with Sacramento
Splash. Splash is dedicated to fostering a new generation of
environmental stewards by connecting the youth of Sacramento to
their community and environment through scientific investigation
and outdoor exploration. Every year roughly 70 elementary school
teachers use the Splash science curriculum Life in Our
Watershed: Investigating Vernal Pools to prepare their
classes for a field trip to Mather Field. If you recently heard a
lot about vernal pools, chances are good that your child was one
of the lucky kids who participated in the Splash program this
year.
Common sense and a growing body of evidence
suggest that time spent in nature is essential to the healthy
development of our children. All children, especially those for
whom nature holds the key to their personal growth and
fulfillment, depend on adults to open the door to nature. While
Splash might be once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience nature in
our urban environment, we believe that kids deserve more than one
chance to discover, explore, and connect to the living world
around them.
Splash is committed to keeping the door to
nature open through the creation of the Splash Club. Splash Club
activities help kids build connections to places and people that
expand their horizons, build their sense of belonging and
encourage their commitment to caring for their community and
environment. Splash is committed to helping all parents in our
community overcome the barriers that keep their kids from getting
outside to enjoy the clean air and sunshine in nature's outdoor
classrooms.
By signing your child up for the Splash Club
you'll be in the know about how, when and where to plug into safe,
fun and educational nature opportunities for your child, including
low-cost or free programs, presentations, nature walks, and field
trips. There is no obligation or cost to join and Splash will not
share your information with any third parties. Sign up now to let
your child join in the fun.
