Water Pollution Prevention

understanding how pesticides and fertilizers pollute water The City of Sacramento's Department of Utilities is promoting water pollution prevention through FREE classroom presentations for 3rd through 6th grade classes in Sacramento elementary schools. Lasting approximately one hour, these fun and interactive presentations feature an introduction to the water cycle and aquatic food chain using colorful handouts and posters.

fish hand-puppetDuring the presentation, children will learn about the important role local rivers play in our lives, how some of our everyday activities can cause water pollution, and what we can do to become the solution to pollution! To reinforce the water pollution prevention message, each child will receive their very own water pollution folder, pencil, "Sammy Salmon" poster, and other fun items at the end of the presentation.

Over the past 8 years, our classroom program has reached over 20,000 students in the Sacramento area. Please help us further educate our children about this pressing environmental problem in our community.
